Outing with your friends

Talk about an outing you went with your friends recently.

– Where you went to
– What you did there
– If you enjoyed yourself there (why/why not?)
– The benefits of having friends in life

Last week, I went to Queesbay Mall in Penang with my friends.

At the shopping mall, I watched a movie entitled “Ironman” with my friends. The movie was awesome and enjoyable. I love watching the main actor rescue the heroine every time she gets herself into trouble. After that, we also went shopping. We bought some t-shirts and pants. There were sales everywhere!

Yes, I enjoyed myself there because I could spend some quality time with my friends. Besides, I could release my stress and be happy with them by doing some entertaining activities like playing bowling and archery.

There are many benefits to having friends.

First of all, friends are always there when we need their help. For example, whenever we have any problems, we can always count on our friends for help. Next, they also help us reduce our stress and make us happy. For instance, when we spend time doing many interesting activities with our friends, I’m sure we will have a lot of fun, and it helps reduce our stress.

Family member you admire

Talk about a family member you admire.

– Who this person is?
– What this person looks like?
– Why you admire this family member?
– Ways to show that you care for this person.

A family member whom I admire is my mother. Her name is Fiona, and she is 42 years old. She works as a teacher at SMK St. Paul.

She bears a striking resemblance to my grandmother, who is very pretty and gorgeous. With fair skin, a sharp nose, and long wavy hair, she possesses the height and slim figure reminiscent of a supermodel – a dream mother for everyone.

I admire my mother for her incredible hard work. She consistently rises early to manage all the housework and, most importantly, prepares delicous breakfasts and dinners as a skilled cook. Moreover, I hold great admiration for her kindness. She goes the extra mile to buy everything I desire, speaks to us softly, and has never once scolded us. My love for her knows no bounds!

To express my care and appreciation for my mother, I willingly assist her with all the housework, aiming to bring joy to her daily life. Additionally, I plan to buy her a special handbag as a meaningful gift on Mother’s Day, knowing her affinity for them. Lastly, I will make it a point to celebrate her birthday every year, indulging her with a cake from Secret Recipe, especially the Indulgence cake she adores.

Social media platform

Talk about a social media platform that you have an account with.

You should say:
– What you post on social media
– Who responds to your posts
– If you comment on other people’s posts (why/ why not?)
– How you feel when your friends make good/ sarcastic comments on your posts

Social media has skyrocketed and captured the hearts of teenagers, including mine. I have an account on Instagram, a popular social media platform. I often post pictures and share moments of my daily life, including outings with friends, hobbies, and occasionally, some motivational quotes. My friends, cousins, and family members are among those who respond to my posts. It’s a great way to stay connected and share moments with them.

I actively comment on other people’s posts to offer support and positively impact their lives. Whether it’s complimenting a friend’s photo or sharing words of encouragement, I think it adds to the sense of community on the platform.

When my friends make positive comments on my posts, it feels heartening and encourages me to share more. However, if there are sarcastic comments, it can be a bit disheartening. Still, I try not to let it bother me too much. I believe in focusing on the positive interactions and using social media as a platform to spread joy and connection among friends.

Sports

SPM English Speaking Test Part 2 sample question: Talk about a sport that you would like to try.

You should say:
– What sport it is?
– What equipment is needed
– Why you want to try it
– How to encourage teenagers to take up sports

I’ve always been curious about badminton and would like to give it a try. All you need is a racket, a shuttlecock, and a court with a net. It seems like a sport that combines fun and fitness, making it accessible for everyone.

Trying badminton excites me because it appears to be a fast-paced and engaging sport. It’s not only a great way to stay active but also an opportunity to make new friends through friendly matches. Plus, it doesn’t require a lot of expensive equipment or a big space, making it quite convenient.

To encourage teenagers to take up sports like badminton, we could arrange friendly tournaments or sports events in schools. Giving rewards and recognition for participation and achievements could also be motivating. Besides that, schools could introduce sports as part of the co-curriculum, making it a regular and enjoyable activity for students.

How do you think trying a sport activity could impact your fitness routine?
(Candidate B)

Trying a sport activity can make my fitness routine more enjoyable and engaging. It adds a fun aspect to staying active, making it less like a workout and more like a recreational activity. In addition, playing different sports involves different muscle groups and movements, providing a well-rounded fitness experience. Overall, it’s a positive impact on my fitness routine.
